You Turned Away a Friend ~ her poetry

You Turned Away a Friend

When you can’t find the road to forgiveness
And your friends all forget your first name

Judgment comes in waves
Compassion, in passing glances

You seep into the darkness of seeds sewn
Rows and rows of all the choices you have made

Friends and family turn their backs
You hang your head in shame

Sometimes gentle words go unheard
Reaching hands go unseen

You could find your closest friend
In that one, you consider an enemy

And so you sink
Farther and farther from the shoreline

Of what could have been
Because you made your decisions

You chose to turn away a friend
